Reverend Dr. Marshall (affectionately known as Dr. Mecca) is a Pastoral Christian Counselor and Life Coach with over 30 years of experience dedicated to supporting survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. Her extensive background includes serving as a Court Appointed Advocate for abused and neglected children and working in shelters for women escaping abuse.
Dr. Mecca is committed to helping survivors reclaim their lives and navigate their journeys toward emotional healing and restoration through spiritual counseling. Currently, she serves occasionally as a Resilience Coach at Cliff Park High School, where she develops programs designed to assist young adults in confronting and managing the complexities of life. Driven by her calling, she provides guidance not only to those affected by abuse but also to anyone seeking support in various areas of their lives.
Grounded in her Christian faith and fueled by a spirit of advocacy stemming from her own experiences with abuse, Dr. Mecca founded Unspoken Courage—a counseling and coaching ministry aimed at giving voice to those silenced by life's harsh realities. Through life coaching, counseling, and advocacy, her mission is to empower survivors and bring their stories into the light.
To further her impactful work, she established Breaking Free to Be Inc., a nonprofit organization focused on educating and training communities to prevent and reduce instances of sexual assault and domestic violence, particularly in African American and faith-based communities. You can learn more about this organization https://breakingfreetobe.org/
Dr. Mecca holds a Ph.D. in Law & Public Policy, a Master of Science and Bachelor's in Criminal Justice, and a Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling from Liberty University. She is currently pursuing a second Ph.D. in Clinical Pastoral Counseling at Colorado Theological Seminary and also holds a Certificate in Theological Studies.
As a Certified Christian Life Coach, Certified Professional Life Coach, Certified Trauma Healing Group Facilitator, and Certified Spiritual Christian Counselor from the American Institute of Health Care Professionals, Dr. Mecca extends her expertise to those in need. Additionally, she is an Amazon Best Selling Author, Public Speaker, Educator, and Social Justice Activist.
Dr. Mecca actively engages in her community as a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) in Springfield, Ohio, and the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW). She teaches Victimology at Clark State College within the Criminal Justice Program and at Liberty University under the Helms School of Government. Moreover, she instructs graduate-level public policy courses online, supervises and mentors Adjunct Faculty, and chairs over ten dissertation committees.
Above all her professional commitments, Dr. Mecca treasures her role as a wife and helpmate to her beloved husband, Wayne, whom she believes God designed especially for her.
"Do not consider me your last hope. Instead, I am your FIRST STEP towards healing. Through Jesus Christ all things are possible, and with His guidance, she will help those silenced, find their voice. " Dr. Mecca

This is a client-centered relationship between you and a supportive spiritual life coach. This one-on-one collaborative, confidential relationship in which the client is guided to make better decisions, look at alternative choices, while identifying challenges and barriers. The goal is to enable the client to reach beyond their feelings or limitations, and focus better to achieve optimal goals. Spiritual Life Coaching inspires the client to seek the Lord's will in their lives and align their lives with God's plan.
Many individuals can experience trauma associated with sexual assault long after it happens. Anxiety, fear, intimacy issues, and shame are just a few emotions one may experience. One-on-one sessions will provide the emotional support client needs to systematically break down barriers, reclaim and restore theirs lives in order to break free from all that is holding them back from truly living their lives.
Relationship building can be beneficial to couples, and families who are looking to strengthen their emotional connection, in all stages of their relationship. Sessions are held in a supportive place to discuss issues and solutions to better strengthen your relationship with each other while strengthening your relationship with God.
Leaving an abusive relationship may be one of the bravest things you have ever done. And I thank GOD you found the courage and the strength to leave. You are no longer a victim! You are a survivor! Things may be scary, and you may not know what to do next. Know that you have your entire life in front of you. You are not alone. We can help! Through prayer and counseling, GOD will see you through.
Through Christian premarital counseling you will explore each others' faith, personal convictions, expectations for your future, and the responsibilities you will have as a married couple. More than anything, premarital counseling aims to produce a marriage that is biblical and God-honoring.
Through Christian marriage counseling you and your spouse will reconnect by learning new and effective behaviors to help you better communicate, based on biblical principles designed to guide you towards effective ways of responding from a place of support, comfort, and most importantly love.
When it comes to grief, there is no expiration date. Nor does it look the same for everyone. Through grief counseling, you will develop healthy ways to navigate the various steps of grief, in a safe and supportive relationship with a counselor and/or group. Grief is not about forgetting, it is about moving forward and learning to live differently.
Client will be guided toward emotional healing and spiritual growth through self-discovery. It is not what you can change about yourself but allowing GOD to change you. You will understand through counseling, the focus is not on what you do, but learning why you do it, and make changes based on this knowledge.

Survivors of Rape and Sexual Assault can spend the rest of their lives trying to put the fragments of their lives together. Is it easy, No! Is it possible, YES!
Talking about the abuse and finding healthy ways in which to cope is an important step in the right direction. Our trauma group offers just that. It is biblically based, so you will learn how to seek GOD during this trying time in your life.
Children experience trauma too. Sadly, more often than we like to admit. We will explore ways to identify problem behaviors resulting from trauma, ways to respond to children that encourages them to express their pain, and how we can respond in accordance with the bible.
This groups is not for children. It is for adults who want to help children who experienced trauma.
All families have conflicts, but when there is a pattern of control and manipulation, it is domestic abuse. God calls us to treat family members with respect and kindness, and unfortunately, this is not always the case in our homes. Our trauma group will discuss what the bible says about domestic abuse, and how to help people trapped in abusive situations.
